Social media for associations: how to use them?
Why should social media be considered strategic for associations dealing with cultural integration in Italy? Nowadays, in the increasingly varied perspective of a social media strategy, the third sector should think about consolidating its online presence. In general, for many associations, social media still represent a little-known area. It is not always clear which way to follow to reach the set goal without wasting too much energy, or may be decide to invest on Instagram stories or Facebook ads (advertising).
Associations can obtain benefits by establishing a social communication plan to validate their mission and increasingly involve their target audience, or with the aim of promoting donations and fundraising. These goals are achieved through a careful study of each social platform to understand languages, pros and cons.
Social media for associations: how to use them? How to use social media to promote your association?
You don’t always need a professional social media manager, although it’s possible to find someone through a volunteer recruitment campaign. Assuming, however, that this is not possible, techniques and rules can be developed to manage a social profile and strategy independently and effectively.
The visibility that social media offers allows you to increase trust in followers because it reveals the true soul of the supportive group. This helps build a community and, amongst them, find possible future associates and/or donors. On social profiles, you can promote events that are organized in presence, but also virtual initiatives, thus allowing Instagram or Facebook followers to reach you simply by connecting online. Communication on social media must highlight the history, actions and values of the non-profit organization with the aim of creating a bond with followers who want to feel involved and part of the mission.
Donors don’t want to be considered just numbers, but individuals who can make a difference.
